Altavista……….Wolfgang Gaertig, age 71 of Altavista died Friday, February 17, 2023 at his residence.

Born September 30, 1951 in Schwabisch Hall, Germany, he was a son of the late Albert Joseph Gaertig and Elfriede Kruger Gaertig.  He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Albert Gaertig.  Wolfgang was a carpenter.  He was a member of Hyland Heights Baptist Church; and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by one son, Aaron Gaertig of Gas City, Indiana; four sisters, Erika Gaertig Mabe and husband, Linwood of Lynchburg, Inge Gaertig North of  Florida, Heidei Gaertig Straton and husband, Rickey of Winter Haven, Florida and Ursula Gaertig Purvis of Winter Haven, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
