Willie Clay Murphy

South Boston……….Willie Clay Murphy, age 89 of South Boston, formerly of Gretna died Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Born June 24, 1927 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late George Robert Clay and Mary McKinney Clay. She was predeceased by her husband, Melvin Murphy; one son, Bernard King, Jr.; one brother, Gene Clay; and four sisters, Chaney Mann, Florence Clay, Pearlie Barbour, and Margaret Childrey. Mrs. Murphy was a member of Mulberry Baptist Church and was a former employee of Craddock Terry and the Lane Company.
She is survived by one sister, Fleecy Clay of Gretna; one brother, Anderson Clay of Pittsville; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2016 at Mulberry Baptist Church by Rev. David Hanks. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
