Gretna……William J. "Wally" Wallace, Jr. age 73 of Gretna died Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Chatham Health and Rehab Center.

Born June 28, 1946 in Washington, NC, he was a son of the late William J. Wallace, Sr. and Nellie O. Whealton Wallace.  Mr. Wallace was an Air Force Veteran and retired from the Virginia State Police Department after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Masons, Anderson Lodge 258 A.F. & A.M. and a 33° Scottish Rite Mason. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry work, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie Rives Wallace of the residence; one son, Billy Wallace and wife, Kristie of Jetersville; one daughter, Brooke Gibson and husband, Matt of Hurt; three sisters, Mary White of Supply, NC, Patsy Purvis of Bethel, NC and Grace Elliott of Rougement, NC; and four grandchildren, Jessica Pike, Matthew Gibson, Mary Gibson, and Kerrie Wallace.

Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2020 at Midway Baptist Church by Rev. Lynn Marstin.  Masonic Rites by Anderson Lodge 258 A.F. & A.M.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2020 at Midway Baptist Church and other times will be at the residence.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Anderson Masonic Lodge Building Fund, P.O. Box 455, Gretna, VA 24557.
