Hurt.......William (Bobby) Robert Keatts, age 76 of 205 Simpson Drive, Hurt, died Friday, December 10, 2010 at his residence.
Born December 1, 1934 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late Herman Keatts and Annie Lee Simpson Keatts. He was predeceased by a brother, Fred L. (Pete) Keatts. Bobby retired from the Campbell County Technical Center, Campbell County Schools where he was the Graphic Imaging Technology Instructor. He was a 1954 graduate of Gretna High School, received his teaching certification from James Madison University, his recertification classes from DCC. He served on the Campbell County Schools committee to help rewrite the curriculum for Graphic Imaging Technology Program for the Department of Education for the State of Virginia, and also served on the Tech Prep Competition Committee for the school. He also served on the Campbell County Schools personnel committee, and the Superintendents Advisory Committee. He loved gardening and visiting family and friends. He is an US Army & Virginia National Guard Veteran serving six years, part of which was in Germany. He was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Keatts was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, on the Personnel Committee, the Historical Committee, and the Sesquicentennial Committee. He formerly worked for Mid-Atlantic Printers.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shelby Jean Keatts of the residence; a son, Donnie Keatts and his wife, Bonnie of Hurt; a daughter, Melissa Reese and her husband, Major Mike Reese, Sr. US Air Force Retired Special Agent of Brunswick, GA; two sisters, Frances Shelton of Gretna, and Jeannette Keatts of Gretna; two grandchildren, Shane Keatts, and Michael Thomas Reese II; two step-grandchildren, Shannon McCluster, and Felicia Downey; and three step-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2010 at New Prospect Baptist Church by Rev. Brady Willis and Rev. James Manuel. Burial will follow in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
