William Henry Jones, Jr.

Gretna…..William Henry Jones, Jr., age 87, of Gretna died Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born July 17, 1924 in Danville, he was a son of the late William Henry Jones, Sr. and Ima Smith Jones. He was predeceased by his wife, Regina "Johnnie" Dalton Jones, three sisters, and a brother. He is survived by his daughter, Gina Jones Rice, and her husband Paul, of Warrenton; and two granddaughters, Lindsay and Alexandra Rice. He took great comfort from his long-time friend, Alice Aylor, and his caregivers during his illness. Mr. Jones was an Eagle Scout, and had been a member of American Legion Post 325 since 1946. He was an avid cook, caterer, baker, and dancer, and was also a member of the Danville Senior Citizens Center and Shelton Memorial Presbyterian Church. Mr. Jones retired from APAC (formerly Thompson Arthur Paving Company) after a life-long career. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, serving in both the European and Pacific Theaters, and was a member of a force that liberated German concentration camps.
His family and friends will miss his candor, sense of humor and his storytelling.
