Chatham…….William "Billy" Sanford Davis, Sr., age 78 of Chatham died Sunday, September 10, 2017 at his residence.
Born March 10, 1939 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late George David Davis, Jr. and Rebecca Roberts Davidson. He was predeceased by a son, William S. Davis, Jr. Mr. Davis was a tobacco farmer. He enjoyed working in his garden; and enjoyed his animals, especially his dog, "Dixie."
He is survived by his wife, Mary Hammock Davis of the residence; one brother, David Dean Davis, Sr. and wife, Cynthia of Lexington, NC; two sisters, Elece Davis Scott and husband, Beverly of Williamsburg and Dixie Davis Wolf and husband, Henry of Virginia Beach; and a special nephew, David Dean Davis, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Museville Christian Church by Conley Stephenson, Minister. Burial will follow in the Davis Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2 to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Museville Christian Church and other times will be at the residence.
