Gretna……...Wilford "Red" Grayson Worley, Sr., age 92 of Gretna died Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born June 20, 1925 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late Sam Henry Worley and Sarah Hammack Worley. Mr. Worley was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Martha Milam Worley; one son, Wilford "Buddy" Worley, Jr.; five brothers, Clay Worley, Dave Worley, Jim Worley, Sam Worley, Sr. and Price Worley; and a granddaughter, Beth Ann. Mr. Worley was a member of Motley Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and usher. He was a school bus driver with the Pittsylvania County School System for 37 years; and he was a tobacco, cattle and pig farmer. Red also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by one son, Lester Worley and wife, Melissa of Hurt; two daughters, Virginia Rowland and husband, Glenn of Pittsville and Rebecca Hudson and husband, Phillip of Highland Springs; three brothers, Charlie Worley and wife, Sandy of Alexandria, Lee Worley and wife, Sharon of Gretna and Doug Worley of Mt. Peasant, NC; one sister, Gladys Light of Roanoke; nine grandchildren, Samantha, Stephanie, Christopher, Elizabeth, Lester II, Raven, Lydia, Amy and Shawn; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Pastor Mitch Etheridge and Rev. Brady Willis. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
