Gretna………George Wiley McDaniel, age 90 of Gretna, died Friday, January 5, 2024 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born May 6, 1933 in Java, Virginia, he was a son of the late George Henry McDaniel and Ethel Rogers McDaniel.  He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce Steele Layne McDaniel; four brothers, Jerry McDaniel, Virgil McDaniel, Allen McDaniel, and Maynard McDaniel; and one sister, Lila Weatherford.  Mr. McDaniel was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a realtor.  He was of the Baptist Faith; and he enjoyed hunting and real estate.

He is survived by one sister, Gaile Shelton and husband, Leonard of Gretna, and three brothers, Lacy McDaniel of Raleigh, NC, Merle McDaniel of Buckingham, and Henry McDaniel and wife, Laura of Amherst.
