Hurt………Wilda Ayers Wood, age 81 of Hurt, died Monday, November 6, 2023 at Autumn Care Nursing and Rehab of Altavista.

Born August 25, 1942 in West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late James Thurlow Ayers and Mary Elizabeth Hicks Ayers.  She was predeceased by one son, Thurmond Wood; three brothers, Lloyd Ayers, Keith Ayers, and Jerry Ayers; and two sisters, Janet Gray, and Alice Boggs. Mrs. Wood was a home maker; and she loved doing puzzles, sewing, and watching television.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Clifford Wood of the residence; one daughter, Leona Rowland of Hurt; one son, James Wood of Gretna; one brother, James Ayers of Tennessee; two sisters, Linda Passer and husband, Jake of Arizona, and Judy Newmister and husband, Robert of Virginia; six grandchildren, Elizabeth, Cody, Delta, Katlyn, Betty Jean, and Alisha; and three great-grandchildren.

Per her request there will be no public service.
