Gretna……Tommie Wilbur Edwards, age 95 of Gretna died Friday, January 8, 2021 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born November 1, 1925 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Peyton Graves Edwards and Elizabeth Parker Edwards.  He was predeceased by his wife of over 74 years Margaret Watson Edwards; one daughter Dianne Myers, three brothers, Woodrow Wilson Edwards, Sr., Dan Edwards and Marshall Edwards; and one sister Everlette E. Toney. Mr. Edwards was a member and deacon of Sandy Level Baptist Church, and a member of the Masons, Anderson Lodge 258 A.F. & A.M.  He was a farmer; and he enjoyed gardening, especially raising tomatoes.

He is survived by one son, Durwood Edwards and his wife Gail of Gretna; two grandsons, Jesse Edwards and wife, Cherri of Gretna, and Christopher Brown of Virginia Beach; a son-in-law, Robert Myers of Florida; six great-grandchildren, Zach Edwards and wife, Cassidy, Jessie Lynn Edwards, Nathaniel Brown, Morgan Grimes and husband, Joseph, Everett Brown, and Devon Brown; and one great-great-grandson, Gavin Edwards.

Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 11, 2021 at Liberty Memorial Cemetery by Pastor Kendell Smith.  Masonic Rites by Anderson Lodge 258 A.F. & A.M.

The family will receive friends at the residence.
