Fredericksburg………..Wesley Bennett Rowland, age 91, died on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at his residence in Fredericksburg, VA

Born February 5, 1932, in Sycamore, VA, he was a son of the late Laughton Talmage Rowland, Sr., and Nora Rowland.  He was predeceased by his brothers, R.C. "Boots" Rowland (Estelle) and L.T. "Tootie" Rowland (Mickey). Wesley attended Hargrave Military Academy, and he served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956. He then served the government in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), retiring after 30 years of service. After retiring from the FAA, he worked as an Air Traffic Control consultant for a number of companies for many years. He loved to garden, watch westerns, camp, hunt, fish, listen to classic country and gospel music; and he loved all of his family dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Velma Stevens Rowland of the residence; one son, Steven Rowland of Fairfax, VA (Deborah); two daughters, Lori Coe of Fredericksburg, VA (Tom) and Lesley Rowland of Richmond, VA; three grandchildren, Victoria Wilson (Lori), Norman Reece III (Lori) and Joshua Rowland (Lesley); one sister, Carol Jean Lansaw (Clarence) and one brother, Frank Rowland (Lois); and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Gretna Burial Park by Elder Raymond Goad. Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2023 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
