Gretna………Moncie Wesley Adkins, age 82 of Gretna died Monday, August 22, 2022 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born April 9, 1940 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Moncie Willard Adkins and Maggie Barber Adkins.  He was predeceased by three sisters, Nancy Stone, Elizabeth Boggs, and Katherine Dowdy.  Mr. Adkins was a member of Midway Baptist Church and a supervisor with BGF Industries for 35 years.  He enjoyed working on the farm, being outside fooling around with horses and dogs, talking about old times, singing with the Staunton River Boys, and spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn M. Adkins of the residence; three daughters, Sue Eanes and husband, Randy of Gretna, Cindy Roberts and husband, Gary of Gretna, and Tammy Adkins and special friend, Tim Eanes of Gretna; one son, Dean Adkins of Hurt; one sister, Joyce Bennett of Gretna; six grandchildren, Adrianna, Kaitlyn, Joshua, Miranda, Cody, and Jake; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2022 at Midway Baptist Church by Rev. Lynn Marstin.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2022 at Midway Baptist Church and other times will be at the residence.
