Chatham…….Haley Wayne Shelton, age 78 of Chatham departed for his heavenly home on Sunday, October 30, 2016.
Born April 18, 1938 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late Henry David Shelton and Gladys Hedrick Shelton. Mr. Shelton was a member of West End Church of Christ and an Army Veteran. Following his retirement from DuPont he worked for Columbia Forest for ten years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, going to the beach, bird watching, church activities, fishing; and sports, especially the New York Yankees.
Left behind to cherish his memories is his beloved wife, Lois Bowen Shelton of the residence; his two sons, Ashley Wayne Shelton of Danville and Jason Eric Shelton and wife, Lindsay of Lynchburg; he was a proud papa to four grandchildren, Caleb Wayne Shelton, Caiden Eric Shelton, Noelle Kate Shelton and Harper Grayce Shelton; three brothers, Malon Shelton and wife, Dianne, Darrell Shelton and wife, Sue and Sherriel Shelton and wife, Brenda; and one sister, Phyllis Mills and husband, Carroll.
Funeral services with military honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232 will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Randy Parker, Minister and Hershel Stone, Minister. A private burial will follow in the Bowen Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
