Hurt……….Walter "Buddy" Sidney Shelton, age 73 of Hurt died Monday, November 28, 2016 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born December 23, 1942 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late Sidney Jackson Shelton and Adell Walker Shelton. After graduating from Gretna High School, Mr. Shelton joined the U.S. Air Force where he spent time in Japan working as a medic. He retired from A.O. Smith in Altavista as the Manufacturing Manager before the company closed. Buddy enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, shooting guns, archery, and spending time with his ever growing family.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Martha Shelton of the residence; one son, Brandon Shelton and wife, Gloriana of Leesburg; two daughters, Christy Adkins and husband, Mark of Ringgold and Sherry Via and husband, Freddy of Rustburg; one sister, Patsy Goff of Altavista; and six grandchildren, Sydney and Adyson Adkins, Beckett, Gage and Cruz Via, and Baby Evan Shelton is on the way. He will also be greatly missed by his beloved dog, BoBo.
Memorial services with Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232 will be conducted 5:00 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the Colbert-Moran Chapel by Pastor Tim Lane.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 4 to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
