Altavista…….Walter Douglas Chapman, age 71 of Altavista died Friday, December 29, 2017 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born December 23, 1946 in Campbell County, he was a son of the late Isaac Herbert Chapman and Susie Odell Price Chapman. Mr. Chapman was predeceased by two brothers, Freddie Chapman and Claude Chapman. He attended Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church and enjoyed working on antique radios and clocks.
He is survived by one brother, John Chapman of Altavista; two sisters, Rebecca Compton of Gladys and Mary Richardson of Danville; one uncle, Charlie Chapman of Altavista; a sister-in-law, Brenda Chapman; and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at The Good Shepherd's Chapel Cemetery by Rev. Brad Hendrix.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his sister and brother, Rebecca Compton and John Chapman, 2436 Mitchell Mill Road, Gladys.
