Gretna……W. Murrell Routon, Jr. age 79 of Gretna died Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at his residence.
Born October 2, 1935 in Appomattox County he was a son of the late Wilton Murrell Routon, Sr. and Lillian Lerner Routon. Mr. Routon was a member of Altavista Presbyterian Church, an Army Veteran and was a retired plant manager at Pannill Knitting. He was a cattleman and also enjoyed farming and horses.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Mason Blair Routon of the residence; two step-sons, Kenneth E. Blair of Gretna and Stephen Blair and his wife, Amy of Gretna; one step-daughter, Jackie B. Geyer of Danville; three sisters, Marie R. Wooten and her husband Curtis of Appomattox, Betty R. Jones and her husband, Fred of Appomattox and Kathryn R. Gunter of Concord; and four step-grandchildren, Justin Blair, Addison Geyer, Morgan Blair and Benjamin Blair.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Altavista Presbyterian Church by Rev. J. Kim Steinhorst and Rev. Robert Button. Burial will follow at Pittsville Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
