Pittsville……….Virginia Shields Tuck, age 84 of 181 Bibee Road, Pittsville died Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born September 27, 1926 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late John Thomas Shields, Sr. and Hattie Jane Tuck Shields. She was predeceased by her husband, E.M. (Onyx) Tuck; one sister, Mollie Neighbors; five brothers, H.P. Shields, Darrell Shields, Stanley (Red) Shields, Garland Shields and John Thomas (J.T.) Shields, Jr. Mrs. Tuck was an active and dedicated member of Pittsville Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a home maker. She enjoyed doing intricate puzzles, reading her Bible and cooking. Mrs. Tuck was devoted to her family which includes her children, grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
She is survived by two daughters, Dianne Shields and husband, Gary of Pittsville, and Darlene Blackstock and husband, Roger of Lynch Station; one sister, Gladys Yeatts of Gretna; five grandchildren, Katie Underwood and husband Jared, Craig Blackstock, Joseph Shields, Kristen Blackstock and Kyle Blackstock; and one great-grandchild, Hayden Underwood.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Pittsville Pentecostal Holiness Church by Rev. Kirby Phillips. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
