Penhook……..Virginia Harvell Dudley, age 94 of Penhook, passed peacefully on Sunday, July 24, 2022.

Born October 19, 1927 in Franklin County, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Millis Odell Harvell and Laura Mae Brown Harvell. She was predeceased by her husband, Al B. Dudley, Sr.; two sons, Al B. Dudley, Jr., and Roger M. Dudley; and one granddaughter, Kimberley Demaree. Mrs. Dudley was a member of Sandy Level Baptist Church. She and her late husband ran a successful building and development business in Lynchburg, Virginia in the 70s and 80s before retiring to Smith Mountain Lake. The simplest pleasures in life brought her joy. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch, sipping on warm Dr Pepper, playing card games, reading her Bible, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, Tim Dudley and wife, Cheryl of Henrico; seven grandchildren, Kelley Florian, Ryan Dudley, Emily Chatfield, Krista Dudley, Courtney McCauley, Matt Dudley, and Trae Dudley; and ten great-grandchildren, Noah Florian, Emma Demaree, Alaina Chatfield, Joshua Florian, Stanley Chatfield, Kate Ball, Alexandria Chatfield, River Dudley, Julian Miles Chatfield, and Dot Dudley.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Mount Zion Burial Park located in the Water's Edge Country Club Golf Community on Golfer's Crossing Drive by Pastor Kendell Smith.
