Chatham……….Viola Florence McGhee Walden, age 87 of Chatham died Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Centra Bedford Memorial Hospital.

Born December 23, 1933 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Farris McGhee and Ola Hall McGhee.  She was predeceased by her husband, Carlton Lewis Walden; one son, Jerry Dalton; one brother, Billy McGhee; and two sisters, Anna Lee Brookman, and Mary Jane Bolling.  Mrs. Walden was a member of Sheva Church of Christ and she was a farmer.  She loved helping people; and she enjoyed watching soap operas, flowers, cooking, and being outdoors.

She is survived by five daughters, Patsy Pruitt of Blairs, Betty Mullins and husband, Frank of Monroe, Dorothy Dalton of Indianapolis, IN, Diane Dalton of Iowa, and Nancy Dalton of Indianapolis, IN; one son, Curtis Dalton of Blairs; one brother, Jesse McGhee Danville; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren; and a special nephew, Harry Leonard of Roanoke

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 26, 2021 at Hillcrest Burial Park by Larry Owen, Minister.
