Hurt……….Vincent (Sam) Barbour, age 75 of 3040 Grit Road, Hurt died Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Autumn Care Nursing and Rehab.
Born June 16, 1937 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late Berry L. Barbour and Emma Roach Barbour. He was predeceased by one brother, Buford Barbour; three sisters, Ann Smith, Gladys Roach, and Ora Belle Barbour; and two grandsons, Christopher Combes and Robert Combes. Mr. Barbour was retired from Klopman. Sam enjoyed baseball, especially the Orioles and NASCAR racing.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Ashwell Barbour of the residence; one son, Berry Barbour of Hurt; one daughter, Shelia Combes and husband, Robert of Evington; one sister, Reva Thompson of Nathalie; four grandchildren, Jessica Gifford and husband, Jeremy, Samantha Barbour, Ben Combes, and Brad Combes and wife, Sherry; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2013 at Altavista Memorial Park by Rev. Latta B. Terry.
The family will receive friends 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
