Hurt……….Verper Calvin Crews, age 85 of Hurt died Wednesday, June 1, 2011 in Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born August 13, 1925 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Jessie J. Crews and Gracie Short Crews. He was also predeceased by his wife, Viola Clay Crews, two sisters and five brothers, Hessie Burton, Lottie Fisher, Robert Crews, Jessie Crews, William Crews, Roy Crews, and Walter Crews. He was a member of West End Church of Christ and was a retired employee of W.W. Boxley Stone Quarry.
He is survived by two brothers, Edison Crews of Gretna, and Richard Crews of Gretna; one sister, Catherine Robey of Lynchburg; a dear friend, Bea Clay of Gretna; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2011 at Straightstone Baptist Church Cemetery by Randy Parker, Minister and Ronnie Simpson.
