Dry Fork……….Vernon Thomas Waller, age 79 of 245 Dry Fork Road, Dry Fork, left his many friends and family on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 to go to his heavenly home to rejoice with his loved ones there, and to meet his Lord and Savior face to face.
Vernon was born March 8, 1931 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Willie T. Waller and Louise Johnson Waller. He was predeceased by a brother, William Waller, and two sisters, Mildred Grubb, and Frances Holt. Mr. Waller was a member of Oak Grove Christian Church, the retired owner of Chatham Heating and Air, and was an Army veteran of Korea. He enjoyed the outdoors, working in his yard and watching baseball.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Riddle Waller; four children, Thomas Waller and wife, Kathy, Rickey Waller, James Waller, and Donna Waller DeBaere; two step-children, Tina Lewis Taylor, and Thomas Lewis; two very special nieces, Patsy Roach, and Carolyn Simpson; a special family friend, Sandy Raynor; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Oak Grove Christian Church by Kevin Reiver, Minister, Frank Fuller, Minister, Ronnie Simpson, and Pastor Randall Waller. Burial with military honors by the Virginia National Guard Honor Guard will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
