Velma Jean Osborne Mayhew

Gretna……….Velma Jean Osborne Mayhew, age 70 of 8361 Climax Road, Gretna, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in Lynchburg General Hospital after a two year battle with lung cancer.
Born November 8, 1942 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Stella Towler Osborne of Gretna and the late Joel Clay Osborne. Mrs. Mayhew was a retired employee from Klopman Mills and was a member of Greenbay Christian Church.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 51 years, George (Tom) Mayhew of the residence; one daughter, Rhonda Mayhew Francis and husband, Steve of Gretna; three brothers, Morris Osborne of Gretna, Joe Osborne and wife, Brenda of Gretna, and Larry Osborne of Snow Camp, NC.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Colbert-Moran Chapel by Lee Ashley, Minister. Burial will follow in the Wagner Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
