Gretna………Velma Louise Branch Simpson, age 76 of Gretna died Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Autumn Care Nursing and Rehab of Altavista.

Born September 25, 1947 in Bedford County, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur Homer Branch, and Katherine Louise Campbell Branch.  She was predeceased by two brothers, Roger Branch, and Frank Branch.  Mrs. Simpson was a member of Summersett Baptist Church, and she was a home maker.  She enjoyed reading, crocheting, hunting, and fishing with her husband, Eddie, cooking meals for Papa Lacy, and playing nickel, and dime poker on game nights.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Eddie Simpson of the residence; one daughter, Carrie Neal and husband, Roy of Gladys; one brother, David Branch of Big Island; three sisters, Emma Jean Markham of Big Island, Rosie Rice of Coleman Falls, and Sherry Byers, and husband, Gary of Big Island; one grandchild, Ethan Neal; two step-grandchildren, Kerrie Neal, and Daniel Neal; and numerous nieces, and nephews.

Memorial services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at the residence, 2871 Weatherford Drive, Gretna, Virginia.
