Charlottesville…….Toy Owen Doss, age 93 of Charlottesville went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Trinity Mission of Charlottesville.
Born November 26, 1919 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Owen and Mary Watson Owen. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Thomas Doss; three sisters, Alcie Blair, Louise Doss and Dorothy Owen; six brothers, Levi Owen, Muncie Owen, Ritchel Owen, Roscoe Owen, Julian Owen and Oscar Owen; two grandchildren, Kathy Dalton and Melvin F. Dalton, Jr.; and one great-grandchild, Brittany Porterfield. Mrs. Doss was a member of First Southern Baptist Church and was a home maker. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening; and going to church and being around her family.
She is survived by four daughters, Doris Giles and husband, Anderson of Lynch Station, Lois Tucker and husband, Bill of Long Island, Christine Saunders and husband, Carroll of Gretna, and Fay Tanksley and husband, James of Keeling; 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Bobby Brumfield. Burial will follow in the Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2013 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
