Gretna………Tony Gilmore Hines, age 76 of Gretna died Friday, September 29, 2023 at his residence.

Born September 9, 1947 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Gilmore Hines and Sally Brooks Hines.  He was predeceased by a sister, Amy Boles; and one step-brother, Ramsey Wilson.  Mr. Hines was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.  He was a truck driver; and he loved working in his workshop, and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Hines of the residence; one son, Dean Hines and his wife, Brittany of Gretna; three grandchildren, Dustin Hines, Jadelynn Hines, and Jamerson Hines; a special aunt, Judy Critchley; and one step-brother, Richard Wilson.

Memorial services with Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232 will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Christian Life Church by Rev. Michael Turner.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 1821 Telegraph Road, Gretna.
