Hurt…….Tony Ray Crews, age 73 of Hurt died Monday, August 30, 2021 at Autumn Care of Altavista.

Born February 19, 1948 in Danville, he was a son of the late Evelyn Hines Bailess and Billy Maxey Bailess.  He was predeceased by a brother, Danny Bailess.  Mr. Crews was a crane operator and loved to work.  He enjoyed gardening, bird watching, fast cars, cranes, working in the shop, telling jokes, and making people laugh.

He is survived by two daughters, Katina Crews of Hurt, and Laura Layne and husband, Nick of Straightstone; one son, Cody Crews and fiancée, Kelly Nebb of Chesapeake; one brother, Scotty Bailess and wife, Carolyn of Hurt; five grandchildren, Kacie Crews, Brooklyn Layne, Blake Layne, Sophia Crews, and Jesse Moon; one great-grandchild, River Talbott; the mother of his daughters, Susan C. Crews; and the mother of his son, Deb Crews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Lee Ashley, Minister.  Burial will follow in the Chumley Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
