Hurt…….Garnett Thomas "Tommy" Farris, age 77 of Hurt died Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born September 1, 1947 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late George Ora Farris and Iza Simpson Farris.  He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis Gay Farris; and two brothers, Charlie Farris and Earnest Farris.  Mr. Farris was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during Vietnam and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and Purple Heart.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gretna and supervisor with Blair Construction.

He is survived by two daughters, Mary Beth Farris of Lynchburg and Jennifer Farris of Salem; three sisters, Doris Adams and husband, Carl Wayne of Java, Mary Oakes and husband, Marvin of Gretna and Frances Dalton of Gretna; one sister-in-law, Sandra H. Farris; two grandchildren, Dillon Farris and Jaden Farris; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be conducted 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. R.G. Rowland. Rev. Jason Andrews will be the guitarist and soloist. Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
