Tina
Birdsall
Jul 9, 1951 — Aug 6, 2026
Tina Gail Seymour Birdsall passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply.
To know Tina was to know someone who truly loved life and who made sure the people she loved knew just how much they meant to her.
Born to the late Alton and Theris Seymour of Walton, New York, Tina was the youngest of six children, growing up alongside three brothers and two sisters. The bonds of family remained an important part of her life, and she carried with her a lifetime of stories, laughter, and memories shared with the people who knew her longest.
For more than 44 years, Tina shared her life with her husband, Dale Birdsall. Together, they raised three daughters and built a family that became the center of Tina's world. Through every season of their life together, Dale was her steady place and through the hardest years, his love and devotion never wavered.
Being a mother was one of Tina's greatest joys. She raised her girls to be strong and independent, while making sure there was plenty of laughter and fun along the way. She loved fiercely, showed up fully, and created the kind of memories that her daughters will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
Tina was also a beloved grandmother. Her grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy, and she loved watching them grow, celebrating who they were becoming, and simply being part of their lives.
Tina retired from US Airways before taking on the profession of Teaching. Tina touched countless lives during her years as a teacher at Gretna Elementary School. She was a loved and respected teacher whose impact reached far beyond the walls of her classroom. For the many students fortunate enough to call her their teacher, she will be remembered for the care she gave, the lessons she taught, and the way she made them feel. Though she eventually retired from the classroom, the influence of a good teacher has a way of carrying on and Tina's certainly will.
Tina is survived by her husband, Dale Birdsall; her daughters, Paige Townsend and husband Ryan, Casey Laronda and husband Shaun, and Abbey Birdsall; and her grandchildren, Kenley Fifer, Rhett Townsend and Vivian Townsend. She is also survived by her siblings, Richard Seymour, Sharon McLaughlin and husband, Gary, Frank Seymour and wife, Peggy, and Joan Ruff.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alton and Theris Seymour, and a brother, Tom Seymour, sister in law Vicki Seymour and brother in law, Stephen Ruff.
The last several years of Tina's life asked more of her than anyone should have to give. She faced illness, treatments, hospital stays, setbacks, and uncertainty with remarkable strength. But her illness was never the most important thing about her, and it will never be the thing that defines her life.
Her life was so much bigger than that.
It was family. It was laughter. It was three daughters who knew without question how deeply their mother loved them. It was grandchildren who adored her. It was more than four decades beside the man she chose to build a life with. It was generations of students who knew her as Mrs. Birdsall. It was sisters and brothers, friendships, stories, ordinary days, special occasions, and a lifetime of memories that will continue to be told for years to come.
Tina made it very clear that she did not want those she loved to spend their time crying over her.
So while there will certainly be tears, her family intends to honor that request the best way they know how: by celebrating her.
Celebrating the people she loved, the lives she touched, the laughter she gave us, the memories she made, and a life that was very well lived.
And because Tina was never one for a life without color, her family invites those joining them to celebrate her to leave the traditional black behind and wear something colorful, something joyful, something Tina would have loved.
Tina will be deeply missed, endlessly loved, and remembered in the lives she touched and in every story her family tells for generations to come.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
