Lynchburg……….Rev. Thomas Robert Boggs, age 89 of Lynchburg died Saturday, March 8, 2014 at his residence.
Born November 23, 1924 in Oakland, Maryland, he was a son of the late Thomas Boggs and Catherine Porter Boggs. He was also predeceased by a son, Michael, a daughter, Ruth, a brother and a sister, Mary Virginia. He was an Army veteran of World War II where he received two Purple Hearts. Rev. Boggs was with the United Methodist Ministry Organization for over 50 years. Among his last churches were Siloam and Payneton United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing golf.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Elizabeth Boggs; four sons, Patrick Boggs, Timothy Boggs, Kerry Boggs, and Dan Boggs; one daughter, Mary Kay Simpson; two sisters, Betty and Helen; and numerous grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 10, 2014 at Gretna Burial Park by Rev. Edward McClain with Military Honors by the Virginia National Guard Honor Guard.
