Thelma Franklin Talbott, age 94 of Gretna, died Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.  She was born May 28, 1928 in Pittsylvania County to the late Dock Benjamin Franklin and Bessie Simpson Franklin.  Thelma was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gretna. She was predeceased by her older sister, Reba Lowe; twin sister, Selma Campbell; and brother-in-laws, Tommy Campbell, Buddy Lowe, and David Elson Talbott, all of Gretna.

Thelma grew up in Gretna, lived in Miami for a couple of years before moving back in 1953, where she spent the rest of her life. She and her husband, Alvin, owned and operated The Junction Restaurant for many years. After closing the restaurant, she went to work at Piedmont Manufacturing in Altavista where she retired in the early 90's. Thelma and her twin sister, Selma, were always known in the community as the Franklin twins.  They were identical in just about every way and were always together.  They spent most of their free time together, talking, gallivanting around town, and people watching. Thelma loved to host her family for Sunday breakfast and holiday meals. She had a big heart for stray or mistreated animals, especially dogs.  She loved going on family beach trips, sunning and reading.

She is survived by Alvin Talbott, her devoted husband of 58 years of the residence; her only daughter, Kathy Rhoads and husband, Billy, of Gretna; younger sister, Sue Kiehm and husband, Leonard, of Penhook, VA; grandchildren, Stephanie Rhoads Fruchter (Shawn) of Franklin, TN and Matthew S. Rhoads (Claire) of Mount Pleasant, SC; great-grandchildren Colin and Graycn Fruchter, and Liam, Fiona, and Vivian Rhoads; devoted nephew, Tim Campbell (Beth & Isaac) of Advance, NC; loving cousin, Cleo Morris (Bill) of Virginia Beach, VA; and sister-in-law, Susie Talbott of Gretna.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Bob Ballance.   Burial will follow at Gretna Burial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
