Gretna…..Thelma Hines McBride, age 96 of 607 Vaden Drive, Gretna died Monday, August 18, 2014 at her residence.
Born July 13, 1918 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Henry Arthur Hines and Molly Johnson Hines. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles William McBride, Jr; two brothers, Jessie Hines and Emmitt Hines; and three sisters, Gladys Dalton, Madeline Huffman, and Iva Shelton. Mrs. McBride was a member of the West End Church of Christ and was a home maker. She was a member of the Red Hatters, the Ladies Auxiliary at church, and the Gretna Home Demonstration Club. She enjoyed flowers and crafts.
She is survived by one son, Charles (Bill) McBride III of Gretna; two daughters, Dale M. Anthony of Danville, and Betty M. Watlington and her husband, Delano of Danville; eight grandchildren, Christopher Barnes, James Barnes, Chuck McBride, Stacey McBride, Jason McBride, Beth Woodward, Julie Hudson, and Charles Watlington; 13 great-grandchildren; and her caregivers, Carolyn Rowland and Debra Rorer.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the West End Church of Christ by Rev. Randy Parker and Rev. Duane Jones. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
