Hurt……….Talmadge "Sunny" Edward Pierce, age 70 of Hurt died Friday, May 20, 2016 in the VA Medical Center in Durham, NC.
Born May 5, 1946 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Robert Buck Pierce and Laura Witcher Pierce. He was predeceased by two brothers, Bobby Pierce and Meade Pierce; and three sisters, Norma Burnette, Vincent Francis and an infant baby girl Pierce. He was a retired electrician for BGF Industries and was an Army Veteran having served in Vietnam. Mr. Pierce was also a former volunteer with the Altavista EMS for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Hudson Pierce of the residence; one son, Freeman Pierce of Gretna; one brother, Louie Pierce and wife, Charlotte of Gretna; two sisters, Nina Irby and husband, Frank of Lynch Station and Brenda Shelton and husband, Tommy of Gretna; and three grandchildren, Kelsey Pierce Burnett, Stephen Pierce and Michael Yeatts.
Following his request there will be no public service.
