Gretna………Sylvia Jean Wyatt Bailess, age 84 of Gretna, died Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.

Born November 28, 1938 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Elmer Jack Wyatt and Gladys Doss Franklin.  She was predeceased by a brother, Wayne Wyatt.  Mrs. Bailess was a member of Sheva Church of Christ and she was a home maker.  She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was a Washington Nationals fan and she enjoyed watching birds.

She is survived by two sons, Mike Dalton and significant other, Donna Bradner of Altavista and Tony Dalton of Washington D.C.; one daughter, Ellen Mayhew and husband, Mark of Gretna; three brothers, Billy Franklin of Gretna, Jimmy Franklin of Lynchburg and Pete Wyatt of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters, Linda Gourley and husband, Alan of Danville and Vickie Loftis of Danville; two grandchildren, Phillip Mayhew and wife, Hillary of Hurt and Amanda Sullivan and husband, Tylor of Richmond; three great-grandchildren, Clayton Marstin, Raylan Mayhew and Kollyns Sullivan; and special caregiver, Carol Berger.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. R.G. Rowland.  Burial will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Mark Mayhew.
