Hurt…..Sylvia Vaughan Wilson, age 95 of Hurt died Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.

Born July 26, 1924 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Willie Dodson Vaughan and Mary Jane Barbour Vaughan.  She was predeceased by her husband, George Wallace Wilson; a son, Richard Wayne Wilson; a grandchild, David Wayne Wilson; five brothers, Charlie Vaughan, Russell Vaughan, Rawleigh Edward Vaughan, Tommie Vaughan, and Howard Vaughan; and five sisters, Lillie Mae Dawson, Roxie Seamster, Lizzie Dawson, Martha Jane Dawson, and Lula Dawson.  Mrs. Wilson was a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church and was a home maker.  She loved flowers; and she enjoyed keeping her house and yard, collecting rocks, picture taking, and needlework.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Nancy Hutcherson Wilson; three step-grandchildren, Elton Blackstock and wife, Sue, Michael Blackstock and friend, Susan Mayberry, and Kim Moore and friend, Bob Layne; three great-grandchildren, Zachary Wayne Wilson, LeNae Sage Wilson, and Layton Thomas Wilson; a granddaughter-in-law, Mari Weeks; and nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Altavista Memorial Park by Rev. Brady Willis.

The family will receive friends at the residence of her daughter-in-law, Nancy Hutcherson Wilson.
