Chatham……Susan Rorer Moore, age 86 of Chatham died Monday, December 10, 2018 at Bedford Memorial Hospital.

Born August 4, 1932 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late John S. Rorer, Sr. and Gladys Foster Rorer. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack G. Moore; a daughter, Cheryl Jean Moore; a brother, John S. Rorer, Jr. and a sister, Jean Reynolds.  Mrs. Moore was a dedicated member of Greenpond Baptist Church.  She was a former member of the WMU and the Mountain View Neighbors Club.   Mrs. Moore was a former teacher at Callands High School and was a partner and bookkeeper with her husband Jack at their Gretna Western Auto store.  Susan enjoyed playing basketball and softball and later in life enjoyed watching as a fan.  She enjoyed baking, cooking, canning and playing Rook with her friends.

She is survived by one daughter, Jackie Moore of Chatham; one son, Michael Moore and wife, Veronica of Chatham; one sister, Barbara Cruey of Richmond; and two grandchildren, Susan Moore Davis and husband, Andy of Las Vegas, NV and John Moore of Charlotte, NC; and a great-grandson who is on the way.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Greenpond Baptist Church by Rev. Steve Carlton. Burial will follow in the Greenpond Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, and other times will be at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Veronica Moore.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Greenpond Baptist Church Building Fund, 7176 Anderson Mill Road, Chatham, VA 24531.

The family would like to thank her caregivers, Kathy Poindexter, Connie Dalton, Amanda Towler, Penny Williams, Wanda Osborne and Rosetta Nibblett for their love and support.
