Gretna……..Sue Roach Hankins, age 100 of Gretna, died Sunday, May 3, 2020 at her residence.

Born February 29, 1920 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Norman Lee Roach and Ellie Virginia Edwards Roach.  She was predeceased by her husband, Owen Beasley Hankins; a son, Michael Hankins; a grandson, Chris Henry; a step-grandson, Jonathan Arlon Henry; four brothers, Sammy Roach, Charlie Roach, J.W. Roach and John Roach; and eight sisters, Alice McGregor, Rebecca Davis, Geneva Burnette, Willie Hutcherson, Ruth Weatherford, Mary Barbour, Velma McGregor, and Lizzie Dalton.  Mrs. Hankins was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church for over 60 years and she was a home maker.  She enjoyed singing, gardening, flowers, dancing, shopping, Blue Grass Music, and cooking Sunday dinners.

She is survived by one son, Robert Hankins of Hurt; two daughters, Starlette Henry and husband, Larry of Gretna, and Virginia Gibson of Hurt; seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Jean Worsham.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Altavista Memorial Park by Mickey Witcher, Minister.
