Gretna………Stover Lee "Poky" Mayhew, age 84 of Gretna died Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Gretna Health and Rehab.

Born March 13, 1939 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late George Calvin Mayhew and Myrtle Shelton Mayhew. He was predeceased by a brother, Lanier Mayhew; three sisters, Hazel Rowland, Barbara Bowler and Marge Younger; and a grandson, Joshua Mayhew. Mr. Mayhew was a member at Greenfield Baptist Church and the owner/operator of Poky's Music for many years. Poky enjoyed Bluegrass music, watching kids learn to play music and being around people. He also enjoyed computers, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by a son, Bryan Mayhew and wife, Tiffani of Gretna; a daughter, Marie Mayhew of Gretna; one brother, Reed Mayhew of Gretna; significant other, Wanda Amos of Gretna; one granddaughter, Jaime Fielder and husband, Brock Allen of Gretna; two great-granddaughters, Emma Lynn Fielder and Laura Jane Fielder; and the mother of his children, Peggy Cook Mayhew of Gretna.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2023 at Greenfield Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. R.G. Rowland.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to Gretna Fire and Rescue.
