Gretna……….Stephen Giles Smith, age 66 of Gretna passed away Friday, March 20, 2026 at his residence.

Born July 28, 1959 in Danville, he was a son of the late James "Jimmy" Jackson Smith, Jr. and Colleen Simpson Dalton. He was predeceased by his stepfather, Jimmy C. Dalton.  Mr. Smith was a member at Midway Baptist Church and retired from Klopman Mills.  He loved to grill and eat; and classic country and classic rock and roll music.  He was a big fan of The Alabama Band, John Wayne, Ric Flair and Richard Petty.  He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Dalton Smith of the residence; one son, Drew Smith and wife, Beverly of Ringgold; one sister, Sharon Mayhew and fiancé, Dickie Scruggs of Chatham; two step-daughters, Kathy Waller and husband, Chad of Hurt and Christy Drouin and husband Chris of New York; eight grandchildren, Keeley Smith, Jaxon Smith, Charlotte Smith, Krista Waller, Nathan Waller and wife, Allison, Will Waller, Jenna Beth Drouin and Ella Drouin; nephew, Jason Mayhew; niece, Jamie Shelton and husband, Brian; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2026 at  Midway Baptist Church by Rev. Lynn Marstin.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Midway Baptist Church Operation Christmas Child Program, P.O. Box 1003 Gretna, Virginia 24557 or to the American Cancer Society.
