Gretna……….Stella Towler Osborne, age 92 of Gretna died Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at her residence.
Born December 27, 1920 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Winborne Thomas Towler and Viola Craddock Towler. She was predeceased by her husband, Joel Clay Osborne; a daughter, Jean Mayhew; three brothers, Stover Towler, Odelle Towler and William Towler; and three sisters, Agnes Osborne, Ethel Adkins and Louise Davis. Mrs. Osborne was a member of Greenbay Christian Church and was a retired employee of Craddock-Terry Shoe Corp. She also was a former employee of Dan River Mills and helped on the farm. She enjoyed gardening and quilting.
She is survived by three sons, Morris Osborne of Gretna, Joe Osborne and wife, Brenda of Gretna, and Larry Osborne of Snow Camp, NC; a son-in-law, Tom Mayhew of Gretna; two grandchildren, Rhonda Francis and husband, Steve and Jeff Bailess and wife, Shelly; and three great-grandchildren, Katie Bailess, Heather Bailess and Lindsey Bailess.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2013 at Greenbay Christian Church by Lee Ashley, Minister. Burial will follow in the Wagner Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her son-in-law, Tom Mayhew, 8361 Climax Road, Gretna.
