Hurt……….Stanley L. Garnett, 71, of Hurt, VA passed away Friday October 4, 2013, in the presence of family, after a short battle with lung cancer.
He is survived by his wife Barbara (Bridge), whom he married in 1964; a son, Larry Garnett and his wife Deb Croteau who live in Edgewood, MD; and a daughter Diane Garnett and her partner Patty Wallace who live in East Swanzey, NH. He is also the loving "Grampa" of Casey & Jacob Garnett. He is also survived by his brother, Leroy Garnett and his wife Barbara, of Bedford, VA and his sister Madeline Dansereau and her husband Homer, of Swanzey, NH. He was the son of Nellie (Stevenson) Cleveland and Earl Garnett, both deceased.
Stan attended schools in Swanzey and Keene, NH and graduated Keene High School in 1959. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Korea. He worked at Sears for 40 years. Stan and Barb lived in Marlborough, NH for many years, until they moved to Virginia in 1988. He played softball in the Keene area leagues for many years, first as a member of the "Misfits" and then in the Senior League. Stan and Barb loved to spend Saturdays searching for deals at yard sales, especially during their 25 years living in south-central Virginia.
