Gretna……….Shirley Hershman Wright, age 72 of Gretna died Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg.
Born October 16, 1943 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late John B. Hershman and Elsie Pearl Rowland Adams. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack Wright; and a daughter, Sharon Renee Davis. Mrs. Wright was a member of Gretna Pentecostal Holiness Church and a former member of the Gretna Lions Club. She was the former co-owner of S & S Catering and was a beautician. She enjoyed flowers, cooking and spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by two sons, Michael "Mike" Kenneth Clay and his wife, Jean of Altavista and John "Matt" Mathew Wright and his wife, Stephanie of Chatham; one daughter, Tammy Finney and her husband, Jeff of Sandy Level; one brother, Charles Edward Hershman and his wife, Joyce of Monterey; six grandchildren, Gretchen Bennett, Jessica Lynn Finney, Joshua Andrew Finney, Eric Matthew Wright, Jacob Stephen Davis and Tara Nicole McCurry; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Gretna Pentecostal Holiness Church by Pastor Donald Powell. Burial will follow in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2016 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
