Gretna………Shirley Dalton Shelton, age 88 of Gretna died Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Oakwood Health and Rehab Center in Bedford.

Born October 19, 1932 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Okey Green Dalton and Eva Watlington Dalton.  She was predeceased by one sister, Melba Davis.  Mrs. Shelton was a member of Midway Baptist Church and she was a former bookkeeper for Gretna Auto and Farm.  She enjoyed traveling and spending time at the lake with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Ned Shelton of the residence with whom she was with for over 80 years and married to for over 70 years; one son, Marty Shelton of Gretna; one daughter, Brenda Strickland and husband, David of Penhook; one sister, Carolyn Short and husband, Paul of Hurt; two grandchildren, Matthew Aaron and Michelle of Roanoke, and Zachary Shelton and fiancée, Hannah Tribley of Roanoke; one great-granddaughter, Mila Aaron; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Gretna Burial Park by Rev. Lynn Marstin.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Mrs. Shelton's caregivers for all their love and care over the years, Cindy Gibson, Tara Moore, Judy Lester, Betty Amos, Delores Taylor and Margaret Rowland.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to Midway Baptist Church, 2136 Midway Rd. Gretna, VA 24557.
