Pittsville……….Shirley Pendergrass Rowland, age 73 of Pittsville died Friday, August 12, 2011 at Duke University Medical Center.
Born October 13, 1937 in Franklin, NC, she was a daughter of the late Troy Pendergrass and Lassie Hall Pendergrass. She was predeceased by two sons, Lewis Rowland, and Larry Rowland; and a brother, Bob Pendergrass. Mrs. Rowland retired from the Lane Company. She enjoyed coloring pictures, working with her flowers, shopping, fishing, and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Russell Rowland of the residence; one son, Warren Russell Rowland of Pittsville; three daughters, Patricia Adkins and her husband, Michael of Gretna; Brenda Jackson and her husband, Mark of Gretna, and Barbara Pillow and her husband, Carl of Gretna; three sisters, Geraldine (Dean) Barbour of Gretna, Dorothy Thomas of Franklin, NC, and Rita McCory of Franklin, NC; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 15, 2011 at Summersett Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Ryan Patterson and Terry Schultz, Minister.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Michael Adkins, 580 Weatherford Drive, Gretna.
