Gretna…..Shirley Jane Moore, age 74 of Gretna died Friday, October 23, 2015 in Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born November 1, 1940 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late John William Hammack and Eliza Hall Hammack. She was predeceased by her husband, William Andrew Moore, Jr; four brothers, Pete Hammack, Calvin Hammock, Clifton Hammack and Roy Hammack; and four sisters, Ethel Myers, Sallie Hammock, Gladys Tuck and Elva Hammack. Mrs. Moore was of the Baptist Faith and was a former employee of Sara Lee. She enjoyed reading; and spending time with her family and her parrot "Jake."
She is survived by two sons, Tim Moore of Gretna and Randy Thompson and his wife, Linda of Danville; one daughter, Robin Lynn Moore of Gretna; one sister, Thelma Thompson of Gretna; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. R.G. Rowland. Burial will follow in Greenfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
