Hurt……Shirley Ramsey Bowling, age 94 of Hurt passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025.

Born April 30, 1930 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late James Edward Ramsey and Annie Kendrick Ramsey.  Shirley was a member of Hurt United Methodist Church and was a retired cafeteria manager with Abbott Laboratories where she served people for many years.  She loved jig saw puzzles; and was famous for her cooking, especially her macaroni cheese, cakes and pies.

She is survived by two sons, Tony Bowling and wife, Karen of Gretna and Tracy Bowling of Hurt; one daughter, Jo Ann Rowles and husband, Barry of Chatham; one sister, Martha Wagner of Myrtle Beach, SC; four grandchildren, James Bowling, Marshall Bowling, Megan Bryant and husband, Louis and Bridget Rowles; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2025 at Green Lawn Cemetery by Dennis Tucker.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hurt United Methodist Church, 196 Ramp Road, Hurt, VA 24563.
