Sherman Rowe Mayhew

Chatham…….Sherman Rowe Mayhew, age 81 of Chatham died, Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born July 29, 1936 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Charlie Lynwood Mayhew and Nannie Beatrice Doss Mayhew.   Mr. Mayhew was a member of New Bethel Church of the Brethren and retired from VDOT.

He is survived by one brother, George Tom Mayhew of Gretna; one sister, Bitha M. Yeatts and husband, Jessie of Gretna; and four nieces, Rhonda M. Francis and husband, Steve of Gretna, Phyllis Y. Mayhew and husband, Coleman of Gretna, April Y. Giles and husband, Daniel of Chatham and Sharon Y. Hammock of Gretna,7 great Nieces & Nephews, and 2 great - great Nieces & Nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at New Bethel Church of the Brethren by Rev. Curtis English and Rev. Jason Andrews.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2018 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of his brother, George Tom Mayhew, 8361 Climax Road, Gretna.
