Shelby Alemore Hogan

Gretna……….Shelby Alemore Hogan, age 89 of Gretna died Friday, February 21, 2014 at Autumn Care Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born September 19, 1924 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late Thomas Hogan and Jenny Dalton Hogan. Mr. Hogan was predeceased by his wife, Ruby Bennett Hogan, and a son Jeffrey Lee Hogan. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theater in the Philippines and Japan., and was retired from Burlington Mills. Mr. Hogan was an avid hunter, especially enjoyed coon hunting; and a horseman that enjoyed trail riding.
He is survived by three sons, S.A. (Pete) Hogan, Jr. and wife, Sonya of Marshall, TX, Roger Hogan of Gretna, and Wayne Hogan and his wife, Nancy of Gretna; one daughter, Dianne Dudley of Gretna; nine grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 24, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Harold Thornton. Burial with military honors by the Virginia National Guard, Honor Guard will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday 1-2 p.m. at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of his son Roger Hogan, 3020 Strader Road, Chatham.
