Gretna………Shane Taylor Nearhood, age 54 of Gretna passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at his residence.

Born August 5, 1971 in Warsaw, NY, he was a son of the late Michael Sherman Nearhood and Sandra Hulme Nearhood.  He was predeceased by his half-brother, Steve Nearhood.  Shane was a U.S. Army veteran; and an LPN, firefighter and EMT.  He loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors.

He is survived by one son, Joshua Nearhood and wife, Alisha of Mount Morris, NY; one daughter, Courtney Nearhood of Mount Morris, NY; five brothers, Thaddeus Nearhood of Gretna, Ben Nearhood and wife, Emily of Cato, NY, Jason Nearhood and wife, Sandy of Leicester, NY, Brett Nearhood and wife, Cammie of Gretna and Adam Nearhood and significant other, Tiffany of Gretna; two half-brothers, Doug Nearhood of Dallas, TX and Scott Nearhood of Concord, NC; three grandchildren, Peyten, Kaden and Addison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Per his request no public service will be held at this time.
