Gretna….......William Edward "Sammy" Francis, Jr., age 77 of Gretna died Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born September 15, 1946 in Halifax County, he was a son of the late William Edward Francis, Sr. and Onie Pierce Francis.  He was predeceased by one brother, Donnie Francis; and one sister, Rosa Prather.  Sammy retired from Times Fiber.  He enjoyed sitting on the carport, growing tomatoes, woodworking and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Francis of the residence; three sons, Steve Francis and wife, Rhonda of Gretna, Chris Francis and wife, Marcia of Chatham and Andy Francis and wife, Rhonda of Maryland; three daughters, Connie Hogan of Gretna, Barbara Neal and husband, Terry of Gretna and Susan Hall and husband, Matt of Gretna; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at the Pierce Family Cemetery by Rev. Edward Pope.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of his daughter, Connie Hogan.
